For sixty-three years, the Mt. Lebanon-based, 88-voice South Hills Chorale has been entertaining thousands of people and hundreds of organizations in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania.

The South Hills Chorale is a not-for-profit organization that provides an opportunity for adults to develop and share their choral talents by performing professional-quality concerts throughout Western Pennsylvania for conventions, meetings, community events, and facilities serving seniors and infirm persons.

overview and history

The Chorale's broad-based repertoire includes American classics, Broadway, pops, spirituals, old favorites, classical, sacred, and holiday works. There is a music style for everyone at a Chorale concert. The Chorale is under the direction of our very talented Music Director, Skylar Bunk. Skylar took the reigns from Philip R. Aley who led the Chorale for 10 years. Phil took over for Henry D. Monsch Jr. when "Hank" retired after 50 years of directorship.

The group has shared the stage with many well-known international soloists, Pittsburgh soloists and instrumental groups. Notable performances include a Memorial Day concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. with soloist Irish tenor Anthony Kearns, two major works by Beethoven and Hanson with the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, Rutter's Magnificat with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic Orchestra, and selected numbers with the River City Brass Band. The Chorale has also performed with other great groups such as the Mt. Lebanon High School Percussion Ensemble and the Keystone Oaks Steel Drum Band.

A major factor contributing to the Chorale's success is the dedication of its professional staff, board, and singing members. More than half the members have been participating for ten or more years. New singing members are welcome to audition as we are always looking for new talent to join us.  

We strive to ensure that our facilities and programs are accessible to people with disabilities. The facilities in which we hold events are fully accessible (including general access and restrooms).
